DaBaby’s got an irreverent wit that’ll almost distract you from the fact that the Charlotte native can rap his ass off. Sure, he used to call himself Baby Jesus and once attended South by Southwest wearing a diaper (your move, Lil Baby). But on Blank Blank, his husky, run-on-sentence flow is a force to be reckoned with, and his street tales are peppered with funny asides—on the title track, he recalls getting accidentally arrested for forgetfully showing up to the airport with a gun. “Beeper” in particular is a standout, as DaBaby barrels through a heavy-hitting trap beat with Olympic-level agility, then laughs it off like it was light work.
